Interview with the YouTuber - Our 'Onlyemilina' (Emilina Rebello)

Today's blog Interview is with the YouTuber ‘Onlyemilina‘ A.K.A. Emilina Rebello, from Navelim, Goa our fellow Goan, who has made Goa proud with her several comic youtube videos on various types of people & different aspects of Goa. She was   born & raised in Navelim, Goa. She completed her school from Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim and graduation from St. Andrews College Bandra, Mumbai with a degree in bachelor's of mass media, advertising major. She is currently working as a digital marketing specialist for a reputed firm in Australia. 

During her stay in Mumbai, Emilina started her Youtube channel 'Onlyemilina', which got her famous in a short span of time. She has an incredible number of fans all over and  nearly 36k followers on Youtube. She started making her niche in comedy videos based on Goans  from 2020 and since then she has become an extremely popular vlogger in the Goan community. Also, she made Goa proud by representating her home state in the "Creators for Change" campaign organized by YouTube India.

Let’s catch up for a short chat with her.

Q.  Hi Emilina! Firstly a big thanks for joining in…  You make us Goans quite proud… You have made such a great achievement, that too in such a short span of time…You got  nearly 36 K Subscribers… What inspired you to start your Youtube channel 'Onlyemilina'? Who is your inspiration ? 

R. Hey Melissa, I appreciate you reaching out to me & thanks a ton for those kind words. Firstly I personally am overwhelmed & grateful that some of my supporters, viewers & fans feel proud of me for my work. I wouldn't say it's a great achievement yet as i still have a long way to go. I started YouTube in 2020, inspired by Lilly Singh & Gary Vee. Currently I'm having issues with being consistent due to many reasons but I'm hoping to be back on track with some refined content.

    Q. How did your family & friends (especially the “Aunties”) 😅 react to the news of you starting a YouTube Channel?  

    R. My cousin's and friends have been very proud & supportive of me since the beginning. Of course not all the aunties like me, haha but they had a different idea but we can't blame them as all this is very new to them. 

    Q.You always try to experiment & create various Goan based comic characters like Goan Aunties, Uncles, Parents, Neighbours etc… Which one of them is your favourite? Is there any such character that you would relate yourself too, in real life? 

     R. My favourite has to be a goan aunty without a doubt. The gossiping factor, quirkiness and sarcasm are the base of her character. Not only me but a lot of my viewers and subscribers relate to her to the core as almost everyone has experienced her at some point!

     Q. Where and what have you been doing all this while? There were no uploads from you for some time… All your fans seem to be waiting for your videos, every Sunday just like “Pulao being served on a Sunday in Goa”! 😃😃😃  I guess were you were busy in Mumbai?   

 

    R. Haha, to be quite open about it i had to move back to goa on my own. So managing everything got quite challenging and than came along the Sciatica. I had been on bed rest for while & I'm still not 100 percent me, hence the inconsistency. 

      Q. After ‘Onlyemilina’, how has life changed since then? 

   

     R. Life has been kind filled with various opportunities, respect from my viewers and also a sense of responsibility to keep up with good content. I'm grateful & blessed. 

 

     Q.What are the new projects you are looking forward to do next? What are your future goals and plans?    

 

    R. Honestly I'm looking forward to walk again without pain, lol. On a serious note looking forward to redefine my content, be consistent on YouTube & excel in my digital marketing career.  

 

      Q.Your advice to new and aspiring YouTubers and Bloggers would be? 

 

     R. I may have started in 2020 but i have been inconsistent for almost a year. I have only made around 50 videos & I'm still learning. Yet i would say create original content, be your own self, get inspired by others but don't copy paste & be consistent but breaks are also important & most importantly don't compare yourself, you have your own journey & you will definitely achieve the success you deserve.

Your Hobbies: Creating & watching YouTube videos, writing poems and dancing

Fish eater or a Meat Lover: I would say both

Things you can’t do without: Fucibet (a cream), water bottle, my facewash & my best friend

One Embarrassing Moment: There are many but top of my head would be the one where I was talking to my own self in the car and one lady on street was looking at me weirdly

Love or Friendship: I feel where there is love there is friendship and vice versa

Cooking or Eating: Eating! I dislike cooking as i don't know how to cook

A Morning Bee or A Night Bird: A night bird always

Your Favorite Quote: My wallpaper that says : Two things you are in control in your life, Your Attitude & Your efforts.
