Golden Indian 90's Ads

Advertisements!!!!

Advertising is indeed a mad world, isn't it?

“Don’t tell me how good you make it; tell me how good it makes me when I use it.” as I agree with Leo Burnett's quote, I feel that an ad is that good when it manages to pull you out from wherever you are, play with your mind and trigger your need for it, then you find yourself running out to buy that product. Now the number of times you're running out to get it, makes that product a 'Hero' or a 'Zero'. So, moral of the story is 'Advertisements do matter!'

It gets very difficult to remember any ad in today's generation that has left us with that powerful impact as the ads of the 90's. Viewers then, wouldn't mind watching these hilarious and interesting ads in between their favorite shows.

So, let me rewind through some memorable ads of the 90's era and what their remake could look like, if ever made today!

Here are some of them!

Liril

Who doesn't remember this famous ad of the 90s which says 'Come alive with freshness' with the bubbly Priety Zinta. It definitely managed to bring a dimply smile on our faces too.😁

But if this ad has to be remade today, then I can picture the new one as this one below, you don't need to find a waterfall, there is a waterfall almost everywhere in India every monsoons.πŸ˜ƒ

' Live fresh, with the soaking reality of monsoons'

Nirma

A Classic ad well remembered 'Sabki pasand Nirma!'. Ask someone to name any one famous washing powder of the 90's, you'll surely hear a shout in the name of  'Nirma'!, added with their singing the famous 'Hema, Rekha, Jaya aur Sushma', jingle.

Today the ad could be something like this (Dedicated to that feeling of all the new generation Hema's, Rekha's, Jaya's and Sushma's, who secretly wish to give their husbands a good πŸ‘Š  at some stage in their life)

'Kapde toh kya, Pati bhi dul jaye, sab biwiyon ki pasand Nirma!

Onida Tv

'Neigbour's envy, owner's pride' was its famous slogan. I'm sure in that decade, this Onida tv ad with the 'Evergreen Devil' would scare any kid. I cannot forget the nightmares I had due to this man. P.S.: He is still better than the Ramsay's title track or that one 'Vampire cum Dracula' who used to appear in most of their episodes in that era.

Ok, who said Only "Horror" sells! Silly dramas like this which can suddenly turn into a comedy one,  could be used as a new theme for the new Onida ad. It could definitely attract quite a many viewers.

'Bahu ki jalan, Saas ki Shaan! '

Cadbury

'Asli swad zindagi ka...' The girl dancing and running in the stadium, celebrating the team's victory will always remind us of this nice and sweet cadbury ad. On second thoughts, I still do not understand why is the cricketer should feel embarassed? There are thousands of weirder fans than this one.

Almost the entire setup in the new cadbury ad could be kept the same, but only with a twist of this dance step.

'Cadbury khao, swad anursar, dance karte jao, karte jao, aapke anursar!'

Fair and Lovely

"More than just Fairness... Clear Fairness...' Yes its the Fair and Lovely! A very well sold product. Fair, Fairer, Fairest😁 The husband here is charmed by the beauty of his fair and lovely wife. But the lady does not give up on her dream of being more fair. I wonder what was her intention of applying that extra cream? So much of fairness could turn her into a white ghost! πŸ˜‚ So, whenever he sees his wife coming, he would say to himself, "Oh there comes my beloved ghost!"πŸ‘»

In India, where the skin colour is first deciding factor for marriage, even today, the faces of the prospective groom and their family who come to see the girl, turns sweet or sour only at the look of her skin complexion. Then comes these fairness creams, which sparks a ray of hope in the hearts of dusky males and females. Do creams really make one that fair? Well, that I do not want to comment on! But here is an apt new ad for all the fairness creams from the beautiful lady!

Fair, Fairer, Fairest????
Say one more time "Fair & Lovely" and
welcome yourself to a new episode of Crime Patrol!
Savdhaan Raho.. Satark Raho..

Fevicol

'Fevicol ka majboot jod hai, tootega nahin!' Like its tagline, their ads describe very well the nature of it's product. Almost all the Fevicol ads have been hilarious. You will definitely have to give it your best shot to break this chicken's egg. πŸ˜πŸ”

To all the wives, who find it difficult to catch time with their busy husbands. This new ad's answer could be 'Fevicol'!

 'Fevicol ki mazboot Jodi..Tootegi Nahi'

Dhara Oil

'Dhara Dhara Shudh Dhara'.... The famous halo or 'Jalebiiii' boy... A very cute 90s ad.. Besides the Jalebii boy, nobody talks about the other person who also deserves some name and fame. Yesss.... thats the 'Ramu Kakaaaaa'!!!

Lets be frank. Can we eat so much of oil today??? The moment you see any oily fried food and your mouth just starts to ooze out streams of water, there comes 'The apple away Doctor' who says 'Eat this'πŸ ‹

'Raho Raho.. Healthy Raho! Sirf ek Boond Tel ka!'

Camelin Marker

"Camlin permanent markers, really permanent - Ab kabhi na mitte!" Another very well known ad. The ad shows camelin marker's supernatural powers to bring a dead man to life in a funny way.  This ad could be anytime way better than watching the today's dramatic serials, where the characters are killed in the most unexpected situations and brought back to life just the way cats have nine lives. πŸ˜†πŸ˜Ί

Who said Markers could be used for normal clerical work. Especially in today's 'Just for Gags World', these markers could be used as a total epic prank weapon to enhance one's beauty and spread smiles. 😁

'Stay Home, Stay Safe! Mark yourself with Camelin'

Centre Shock

Another hilarious ad - 'Sahi mein 'hilake rakh de'... If only haircuts could be this easy for men who have grown their hair lengths almost equal to women due to the lockdown, this ad idea could be an epic life saver!πŸ’‡

So, all of you, who dare to go for some greatly shown celebrity haircuts but end up looking like this, you'll simbly get a centre shock of reality. πŸ’‡

'Sahi mein hila diya! Kya se kya bana dala'

All out

A very famous ad, where the all out machine is shown as a frog jumping to eat mosquitoes. There's no doubt it used to work great in keeping mosquitoes all out of your homes before.  Being  'Zyada asan, zyada asardar', mosquitoes were manageable in those years unlike today. These blood drinking vampires have grown immune to all sorts of repellents.

However, today, I find that the only option remaining is to shake your body like this and personally greet them with a nice tight clap, joining your hands and if this dance step is added with a happy smile, it could surely give you a good day's exercise. Mind you, to get the best mosquito killing shot, one needs alot of practice.

'Mare na machar, itne thappad maarkar, haath hua fracture!'

There are many more such unending list of ads to share, which I may have missed, but I hope you guys enjoy reading it! πŸ˜‰
